Gene Wilder Passes Away At 83

The world lost a comedy legend yesterday when Gene Wilder passed away at 83 years old.

He hadnt done anything relevant in quite some time, but his run during the 70s and 80s is as good as any.

Of course Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, the one everyone remembers most.  From there it was Blazing Saddles, a Mel Brooks classic, and one that he starred in with the caveat that Brooks consider his own idea for another movie.  That “other” movie of course was Young Frankenstein, yet another classic.

Then in the late 70s and 80s he teamed up with another comedy icon, Richard Pryor, to star in a handful of buddy comedies.  And the chemistry between those two was flat out electric.

Thanks for all the laughs Mr Wilder, hopefully the parents today are teaching their kids that this guy is more than just the guy from the memes.

Now its time to take that big glass elevator to the sky.

RIP Gene Wilder
