Breaking News: A-Rod Admits Using Steroids

Miami Herald –

For 21 tumultuous months, New York Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez has defiantly maintained he never used banned substances from a Coral Gables anti-aging clinic, that he is the victim of a Major League Baseball “witch hunt,” and that he would fight to the end to clear his name.

But in a Drug Enforcement Administration conference room back in January, facing federal agents and prosecutors who granted him immunity, baseball’s highest-paid player admitted everything:

Yes, he bought performance-enhancing drugs from Biogenesis of America, paying roughly $12,000 a month to Anthony Bosch, the fake doctor who owned the clinic. Yes, Bosch gave him pre-filled syringes for hormone injections into the ballplayer’s stomach, and even drew blood from him in the men’s room of a South Beach nightclub. And yes, the ballplayer’s cousin, Yuri Sucart, was his steroid go-fer.

When it was over, Rodriguez emerged from the Weston, Fla., conference room with his New York criminal defense lawyer, and has stood by his denials to this day. His attorney, Joseph Tacopina, could not be reached for comment Wednesday morning.

Ummmm, no shit he did.  Whats next?  Sky is blue.  Water is wet.

To be honest this is the only move for A-Roid here.  Coming off a year long suspension, everyone looking to rat you out anyway, already admitted to it behind closed doors, just come clean man.

Put it all out on the table, apologize to the American people for lying to them all this time, throw in a few fake tears, and begin the road to forgiveness my man.

I mean what other choice does the guy have at this point?

Peter Gammons makes dumb comparison, Internet goes crazy

So Peter Gammons called into the Mike Lupica show today and said the following:

Peter Gammons: I’m not sure I have any answers to it, because it was so crazy. Everybody’s just running after the money, is what it all comes down to.

Mike Lupica: Peter, what’s the endgame here? Because it’s going to be very hard for them to get this thing into federal court. I keep holding out hope for the good of the sport that there is still a deal to be made on this suspension.

Gammons: I don’t know whether—and I’ve had people on the Yankees say this to me. He wants to blow up the world. You know, he’s like the marathon bombers. It’s just, he’s going to get them.

Oh Gammy, you silly old man.  Look Im not going to sit here and chastise this guy like many seem to be doing.  Was it a dumb thing to say?  Of course it was, and he knows it and has since taken to twitter to apologize profusely.

Guy is a Hall Of Fame writer, been around the league for decades, is a Massachusetts native and used to work for the Boston Globe.  Maybe hes losing a step or two in his old age, but hes not looking to cause a controversy.  He was looking for something comprable to blowing up the system, blow up equals bombs, and that was the first thing that popped into his head.

I have lost count at how many times Ive said something dumb in my life.  Think we can all agree that Gammons isnt out to cause an uproar or offend anyone, and lets just move on.

A-rod suspended through 2014 season, in other news…the sky is blue!

The decision finally came down from MLB and to noones surprise A-Roid was suspended through the 2014 season.  12 other players were given suspensions of 50 games for their connection to Biogenesis, but in typical A-rod fashion he is the only one appealing and will be able to continue playing until his appeal is heard.

At this point this is a total non-story to me.  A guy who has been busted before and been linked to PEDs for years now is busted again.  Not to mention he is a washed up player on the wrong side of his 30’s who will be pushing 40 when the suspension is up.

Just do everyone a favor and retire now and lets put Arod and this story out to pasture.
